Anyone had their container fumigated
hi,
just wondered if anyone had had their shipping container fumigated and how much they were charged?
I only ask as my husband has been offered a job and the company are paying for the shipping of our stuff - hence saving us a fortune.
we have alot of mexican pine, which i'm not sure if its been treated or not?
i'm trying to weigh up how much we'll be charged if it does get fumigated (i'm happy to pay a reasonable cost) over the cost of buying everything new from scratch over there?
thanks
lisa

If your husband's new company are paying for the shipping, it may well include the fumigation costs anyway.
Personally, I'd bring the Mexican Pine and see what AQIS have to say - if it needs doing then it can be done here, if it doesn't need doing then you have your furniture anyway and you don't have to look for new stuff.
We bought pretty much all of our belongings (Our shipping was paid for too.) and it is nice to have familiar things around you in a new place. We had no problems with AQIS, including wicker and wooden items.
