Default anyone had their belongings sent by plane

Still debating about whether to take all or nothing with us to Oz. If we could get a small amount of stuff sent by plane then we could perhaps buy the rest when we arrive. We really dont have alot of furniture and have done alot of clearing out of the toys etc. The biggest things (if we leave behind the fridge freezer and washing machine) is the double bed and a few sets of drawers, dining table (which can be taken apart) and 6 chairs, a few bikes, kitchen ware and linen, computer, cd's a few lampsThe boys need new beds so we would hold off and buy these when we arrive. Anyone able to give some advice here?

The costs to send by plane are out of this world. It would cost you more than buying a new house and everything in it. Slight exaggeration but honestly it would cost you a quarter less to rebuy in OZ than air freight it. Ship freight is longer but way cheaper. Lots of experts here to tell you whats worth bringing. Good luck with your move

You could look at sharing a container.

There are quite a few posts recently on sharing. You will (IMO) always have too much to fly out with, and it's just too expensive to fly it out as excess baggage.

Speak to a few removal companies if you need an idea on costs by container.

A shared container for similar sounding amount is costing us in the region of £1900 from Herts to Perth.

Has the company said anything about this taking a bit longer for the container to get to perth because it is being shared. I've heard that sharing a container holds things up as they have to wait until they find someone else who has the same amount of things before they can send yours and also that it could hold up you getting hold of your things at the other end. This was one of my main concerns as I dont want to be waiting too long when we arrive.

Between 10 and 14 weeks - not sure if this is more or not. I think they have alot of shared cargo so ought not hold it up.
