Ours is a 8m x 4m concrete pool and cost $20,077 including a water feature, but excluding fencing, landscaping, paving, etc.

Not yet. all we've got at the moment is a concrete shell. When the house is finished in a few weeks, then the pool will be finished off. Will post some piccies then.

Whats better a chlorine or salt pool? I've heard salt pools are cheaper and easier to maintain - is this right? Also is a salt pool like sea water i.e. tastes horrible and dries to your skin funny?

What sort of costs are we talking about to maintain a pool and how much maintenance is required?

cheers

When we were out there we sussed a place out called North Lakes (about 30k's north of Brisbane), seems to tick all the right boxes, so we have done our research around there, you're heading futher North as i recall - Moooolooooaaaabaaaaaaa area?

Hi Ian,

Am wainting for Seven Sea to come back to me on a couple of questions. Other than that the packing will start over the weekend :scared::eek::scared:

I am off into a meeting (to find out what the chuff i am supposed to be doing) in a mo - so i wont be able to email you for a bit.

Ps - we'll almost be neighbours - just done a lookup on whereis.com.au and it's about a 45 minute drive, so if we dont manage a drink this side of the world perhaps we can meet up on the other side :D:D

Has anyone put one in their roof terrace? ie rather than on the ground floor.

Just wondering what depth and structural constraints I might face. Looking for 8 x 4 metre with 1.8 to 1.5 depth range.

That's nearly 53, (52.8) tonnes of water alone you are talking about, not including the weight of the pool, so it'll have to be a hell of a strong roof terrace.

A pool on an upper floor is a structural nightmare. It can be done but it has to be tied into the rest of the building in ways you wouldn't believe using about 6 different types of reinforcing bars!

I was asked to quote for one like that recently but had to decline cos getting everything structurally safe would have taken so much of our time that we'd never have got any other pools built!

The salt water pool which I have swum in many times in Oz when we go there is great. The concentration of salt is low enough not too affect your skin or taste like the sea! Hope this helps.
