Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
Hi,
Going online to search out jobs in the area that you want to work is quite easy to do before you fly over to australia, you can search for jobs in the location you are interested in living and search them by job type. That could give you and idea of how many jobs go each week or month in that type of industry (or whatever). Also you might be able to judge what sort of wages they will pay. There are literally hundreds of recruitment agencies over here and they are easier to deal with once you are over here with a phone number (mobile phones are easy to get) so they can contact you. I think some ignor you until you are over here in person. I know lots of people who have done temping to get themselves experience and earning something to be going on with. I thiks its pretty common to come over here without a job lined up and to just really look once you are here. ES. |
Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
Thanks guys, at moment we are ready to submit TRA then see what happens.
We are having to look at airport areas, due to OH skills, only thing is , were pretty limited as were reading some jobs that need citizenship. Also OH has 15 yrs experience in aerospace industry, design and manufacturing, but we think we need to apply for jobs that he has his trade shills in - Aircraft electrician. Doesnt have licence, so i guess we need to wait and see about TRA , he is on CSL and applying under 4114-15 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) love to hear from anyone with any help xx |
Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
I am thinking of moving to Oz but I can't imagine going anywhere without a job in place:confused:
Had a couple of talks with agencies but not as much interest as 1 year ago |

A part from nurses and maybe a couple of other professions, how on earth can you secure a job? I would love to know cause I wouldnt fret as much if I had a job to go to.

Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
Our friend has just secured a job that was being advertised for people with citizenship only, he was on his WHV but he was ideal for the job so they decided to give him sponsorship. They are much more keen to do things like that face to face though as apposed to over the phone etc for some reason it all works a lot easier when you're actually here!

Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
gotta to agree this is a good thread. the other half and i were wondering the same. She is fully qualified ACA accountant, which for her will be quite easy to find a job, but for me i have run my own property development company buying and selling houses. How difficult will it be for me to find work in the property industry? any help would be great.. we are thinking of moving to the gold coast.. :D

Re: anyone gone to aussie without a job ???
my first job in OZ was secured getting drunk with 2 aussie directors from the company I went on to work for whilst they were in the UK visiting a trade show at the NEC.
I was working on a stand at the show in the same industry and got chatting in the hotel bar one night, I'd said I had family in Sydney and fancied a visit. By 5am  and very pissed I went to bed. Next day they visited my companies stand and said "so last night you agreed to come and work for us" and I said "did I???" They said "yes and we had a meeting about it and spoke to the boss in Sydney this morning and we'd like to offer you the following package.......bla bla bla" I thought "bloodyhell that's alot of money" and before I knew it within 6 weeks I was working in Sydney!:thumbsup::thumbsup: |
