Cool ANYONE ELSO TAKING PLUNGE TO OZ THATS NEVER BEEN???

Hi
Just out of interest, is there anyone else taking the plunge to move to oz thats never been??

Very excited but very very scared!! Are we doing right thing.

We are selling house and all our belongings to move to the other side of the world for a better quality of life. WELL THATS WHAT WE HOPE!!!

We have 3 daughters aswel, 11, 9 and 7 months, they are the main reason for us doing this so they have better quality of life.

Just interested on anyone elses comments on this subject.

Mandy

What makes you think the quality of life is better in Australia?

Hi Sutty77, if you never try somthing you will never know We only came for a two week visit to validate our visa, them moved here 6 months later, and all is well, not just well bloody great. Just have an open mind and support each other and you'll do fine. There will be highs and lows and if at the end of it its not for you have a rethink Good luck in what ever you decide and do

We did the same as you are doing last year.... only we still haven't sold the uk house yet... not that we aren't trying..

Never been here before... but did enough time researching/dreaming/hoping to think it would be 'better' .... and for us it is... The kids have more useable outdoors and weather to be able to enjoy it... I never swam with dolphins in the uk, we can here.... the sunshine and the similaririties and the differences all go to make it interesting...

I am struglling with the antiquated attitudes towards women and I am struggling at the moment with 'friends' or rather lack of them, but then I lived in a small town for too long (with periods away) and have wonderful family in the uk... so it wasn't going to be easy...

We couldn't afford a reckie... and I took the view that visiting somewhere is NEVER the same as LIVING there... so we just upped and came...

Good luck with your adventure

We are the same, never been and in the early stages ie just appointed the agent (emailed signed paperwork yesterday).

We have not been, but are doing loadsa research.

Our reasons for going? Climate, open spaces, and hopefully a better life for the kids .....

Who knows if its the right decision .... but we have spent SO long dreaming about it, we felt we just had to go for it before OH gets to 45 and too old to enter on the 175 visa.

Good luck

Michelle

Its so good to know there are other families out there taking the plunge, hoping it will pay off. Lifes what you make it and as long as you stick together, i think we,ll get through it ok.

We have been thinking about doing it for the last 5 years, and are now going for it. You just dont no whats round the corner, so where taking that chance, and if it doesnt work out at least we can say we tried it and wouldnt be sat wondering what if!!!

We didnt do a reki, with 4 kids it was too expensive. We researched and researched - it gives you an insight but nothing can prepare you for arriving and living here.
We got here 4 weeks ago - with 16,15,10,4 kids in tow.
All of us are loving it here, not in holiday mode anymore - well i dont think so - kids all in school, oh in work, im sorting/chilling/healing(broke my leg), we have usual problems and more (teenage issues) but all of us have settled, got friends and are loving life.

We came for a variety of reasons -
better life, for us and kids. life being lifestyle choices - time together as a family enjoying time out etc, things to do, decent enough weather to plan to do things...
because we could - both got the skills, came on oh's skills as easier...
to open up the kids eyes into what a small world it really is...and that they can do anything if they really want to.
future opportunities, for us and kids - manufacturing is dying in the uk (oh trade) education and future possibilities are endless here for the kids!

Life is what you make it. So make the most of it!

Hiya

Another lot here who have never been...we are planning to go for a year and see how we get on....we will rent the house in the UK so if it doesn't work out then we have something to come back to.... we are waiting at the mo for the app to go to the Decision Maker, would be lovely to know in the next few weeks..

We just decided lifes to short and like others have said, there's only so much you can learn from a vist...if it doesn't work in one place then we will move on!

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

We came from a very nice area in Canada, owned a lovely home; basically had a very nice life. Our lives here are really similar to what we had there. We work 8 hours per day. Commute 1 hour each way. We pay taxes. Really the only thing that's changed for us is that since we've moved to Australia my husband was unemployed for 9 months (first time since he was 15) and we've been burgled twice. Once in the middle of the night when my kids and I were home alone and once when we were all home sleeping.

Yep never been!!! decided to apply about 2 years ago after a conversation with an ozzy friend over coffee. Visa was granted about 2 weeks ago, so hubby and 14yr old daughter heading over to Adelaide (that's a condition of the visa) in November probably. Giving up good jobs here, sold house already, no job/house to go to - but hey! life is for living!! extremely scared it won't work out -but playing safe, is that living?? don't want to look back in 20 years time and wonder "what if"
