Hello all
Not been on here for ages. :)

We're leaving for Adelaide at the end of June. We're actually returning to SA after 2 years back in England. We originally moved out there in 2003.

Flying Cathay Pacific and spending a few days in HK en route.

9 weeks and counting.........

PS Need to alter my profile but I'll leave that to Wifey!:o

Hey there

Singapore isn't expensive, we were there for 2 nights last October on the way here and we changed 150 GBP to Singapore Dollars for two of us. Travelling around the city is extremely easy and cheap, S$7 for the airport shuttle which drops off at all the hotels in the city, S$2.30 for a trip from Chinatown to the Harbourfront on the MRT. You HAVE to go to the night safari though, it is amazing. Cost us S$48 for two tickets (usually S$32 each) as we showed our Singapore Airlines tickets - keep hold of them as there are discounts on a lot of things in the city if you show them which we didn't know initially.

Other things to do would be a drink at the Swissotel Equinox Bar on the 70th floor, amazing views of the city and river at night, a Singapore Sling at Raffles obviously and just round the corner from there is a place called Chijmes (hope I've spelt that right) which is like a little courtyard with loads of restaurants interspersed with trees decorated with little lights - magical! We ate at a place called Carnivore there (sorry to any vegetarians out there!) where they literally bring you meat until you can't eat anymore! Help yourself salads too of course but you go there for the meat really.

Then before you know it you'll be here with us in beautiful Adelaide :D

Thanks so much for the information, we have changed £200 so hopefully that should be enough.

What do you think the temperature will be in Adelaide when we arrive?

No worries. This will be our first winter here so not sure about temperatures in June (that is when you're getting here isn't it?) but it's getting chillier. You probably won't notice it as much, we've just gone through that record heatwave and that has made the current 16ish degrees feel freaking freezing!!

It won't be shorts and t-shirt weather I wouldn't have thought but it's still nice and sunny so you'll love it :D

Hi everyone.
Wish we were going in June but I suppose Sept 9th isn't that far away!! We booked with dial a flight and got 3 FREE nights in a hotel!! Flying Cathay Pacific. Anyone flown with them before? We were impressed with Malaysian last time we went to Adelaide.

It's not everyone's cup of tea I know but we really like Singapore. Plus Singapore Airlines seem to do the most direct route 'home' - Adelaide - Singapore - Manchester so guess it's a good job we like it :D

Hi ozzyfever and Mark!

We are also going to Adelaide on the 15th June! We are flying BA at 21.30. Its nice to know others are going through the same thing. Its exciting not knowing what awaits us!

What are your reasons for choosing to live in Adelaide?

:):)

Hello Karen and Mark,

Its true only time will tell really. We really have no idea what to expect except that the beaches are beautiful and its cheaper to buy and rent property. Its important to be optimistic I think. We didnt really chose Adelaide but are going on state sponsored Visa so we didnt really have much choice! It is reasurring to know that you actually chose Adelaide out of other places in OZ so it must be doing something right!

We have applied for temporary accomodation and are waiting to hear from them, hopefully it will be sorted when we arrive. Have you also requested this service? There is also a meet and greet service.

May I ask, what were your reasons for wishing to leave england for Australia? Whose idea was it first? What are your fears, if you have any!

For everyone else moving to Adeladie, please feel free to add your comments.

We are flying from london.
