Default Anyone claimed tax back before leaving

just a quick one all, need a bit of help regarding claiming the tax allowance back before we leave for aus in march. i think i will have to get an accountant to do a tax return for me as i did some paye work for myself last year, but not too sure if we can get away with just filling in the form from the tax website for my wife.

any help would be great as i will have to shell out for her tax return also.

cheers

andy

We did it and financially it was well worth the bit of hassle. It was pretty quick to come through as well.

There is a form on the inland revenue's website called something like "leaving the UK permanently". Fill it in, send it back with your P60 and P45 and they do the rest. Just tell them where to put the money. We got a nice little sum back and it was as easy as that. If in doubt ring them and ask.
