Anyone changed job/retrained after moving to Oz?
Has anyone here managed to have a complete change of career after moving to Oz?
As I posted previously, I work in IT and in the UK half of all the advertised IT jobs are in London, Berkshire or Surrey with over 40% in London alone. See http://www.jobstats.co.uk/jobstats.d/LOCATION.html
There are hardly any suitable jobs for me in Adelaide (where we have the vital family support, so no real option about going to Sydney or Melbourne) and even those that do exist in say Melbourne are paying $50k ish compared with the £40k ish I could expect to earn here (though currently I am in temporary employment).
If I could earn a reasonable income in Adelaide I'd have no hesitation going. As it is, the decision is very difficult.
I know all the ups and downs of life in Oz, having lived in Sydney for 4 years.
Has anyone managed to retrain and start a new career or start a successful business once moving? I'd be interested in hearing of some experiences and being able to live with parents for free for as long as we could all put up with each other and, eventually, buy a house cash would enable me to pursue a change like this.

Can't help you sackofspuds but I'm interested to hear any responses as my husband also hopes to retrain when we get there.
