Hi all,
is there any expats up there in cairns..
got my PR now so we should be off wuite soon.
just wondering if anyones uop there that can give me pointers on where to rent, schools etc..
looking for something close t a beach preferably (not asking a lot am i ! LOL)

Just the usual warning.If you are going to live near a beach and have kids you need to be aware that you can not swim (or paddle) for over 6 months of the year over the summer months because of the Stingers:scared:

Otherwise hope you find what you are looking for

dont they have a lagoon in cairns now like airlee beach ?
yeh not worried about the stingers, just nice to have the beach etc near by.
gona have a look on www.realestate.com.au for a rented place i think

We're going back there in June, to live with my boyfriends parents until we find a place. They live in a lovely place called Kanimbla, half way between city and Beeches.

What area would you recommend near to the city for renting accommodation?

To be honest I am not sure, my boyfriend is not here at the moment to ask but there is a really good website we have been looking at that sells and rents property in the Cairns area. It is called www.realestate.com.au

Just put in the details you require and you can browse throught he site. We have been using it a a guide for house prices 'buying' not renting.

I think most of the suburbs are nice outside the city and proably cheaper than city centre too.

I will have a chat with fella tonight and see if he knows more than me, but bear in mind he has been over here for two years so may also be a little out of touch
