Well we may have shite jobs or no jobs but lifes great until the money runs out.
wait 'till you see the "black man's cock" gag. Its hysterical.

Even in the UK a lot of people don't get it, they think it's a genuine fly on the wall documentary. They couldn't show it in the US.

It does seem true to life ,the humour is very off the wall I loved it, and Time Gentlemen Please also 2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
God this place would be unliveable without Brit TV programs.

That's the thing I'll miss most from the UK. The telly. Sad but true.

I spend a lot of time surfing the 6 or 7 music channels here too. The only thing that comes close in Australia is ABC's Rage.

I don't think I'll be watching too much telly over there though. I'll be working double shifts. Mopping floors at the school during the day and flipping burgers by night.

I used to work at Fast Eddie's in Freo, bunch of w**kers.

Default SORRY madmancuniun

Hey mate
Sorry about the remark this morning. I did reread your posting and realised too late.
Just a wee bit fed up with people comparing UK and OZ. How can you compare another country just because they happen to speak english. And yes it is about attitude and how you tackle situations.
We're happy here and not too sure of the remark about the 'office. Never caught that one on BBC2.
Please explain Pommie Bastard. Did like Two Pints of Larger...though!
Oz telly is crap but I've got quite into it now. Don't have a lot of time to spend in front of a TV.

Because some people (nameless) have never accepted Britain's loss of empire. And Oz is still and always will be a colony. Thus everything in Oz must be described as derivative, second rate, inferior. This is irrespective of whether it is derivative, second rate....
And the landscape which is ecologically unique and far more biologically complex than anything in europe must also be disparaged and dismissively criticised. Because to understand its scientific value alone would mean asking a few questions and who wants to do that.
Non British migrants (and many British) understand that Oz is a half grown country and take pride in their contribution in building a new society with a capacity to grow in a way that benefits us and our children.
And then there are the other British migrants............

The office is a sit com sit in an warehouse and revolves around the office staff , its not only very funny its true to life shot as you would a spy on the wall program ,if you ever get a well paying job get Foxtel its the only telly worth watching apart from ABC.
Still trying to figure out what culture you have found , a backward one?
Seeing that you have yet to enter the work force here I am sure that you have no idea about Attitudes here but you will learn .
You are still in Holiday mode give it time we went though the same thing , its all new to you wait until a year pases by before you make opinions.

I have to say that Aussie TV (even with a full pay-TV package) is fairly poor when compared to Sky Digital. But then, I can't remember what the Sky Analog was like, which would be a better comparison. We had our Optus cable TV installed the other day. The engineer reckoned that Digital services could be just around the corner, now that Foxtel & Optus had come to an agreement. I don't know if this just means more channels with no extra quality, but the Engineer felt that the cable companies would be much better off financially now that the channel sharing was in place. So maybe they'll invest ??? Here's hoping...

Cheers,
Paul.

I always enjoy your posts Rose , but I can also see fault with your arguements.
Austrailia is trying to swop one Empire for another , it wants to become a minor Americian state the lifestyle is becoming Americian there is no such thing as an Australian culture.
Nearly 90% of the land mass is unuseable it can not support life even the population here now is raping the land , there is no drought its a case of over using the water there is.
You are spot on with the words half grown country , immature is nearer the mark , have never come across more corrupt useless politicians in my short life as hold office here.
Australians are becoming like the worst Americian types you would never want to meet , gone is the the true blue mores the pity the country people here are some of the best people I have ever met .
Many seem to want to leave the UK because their culture is being eroded because of people from other countries now live there , what they runing away from is waiting for them here , this is not a racial statement .

Foxtel Satellite is the same as Foxtel Cable. They have been saying that it will get better soon. The other thing is that you can't get Internet through your Foxtel cable or satellite (interestingly, Telsta owns 50% of Foxtel, probably as a defensive measure to stop Foxtel getting into the telecoms market). The Foxtel/Optus merger is under the spotlight with the ACCC poised to investigate it. One outcome may be that Telstra are forced to sell down their holding, which in theory would open up the whole TV/telecommunications market and allow us all a better service.

I'll believe it when I see it...

remind me
is this a rant or an opinion

I have always found the term ugly american a misnomer
generally, in my experience, the septic tanks are gracious and open minded
and their society, despite some flaws (haven't we all) has much to be admired

it is unfortunate that on this forum we are seeing rather too much of a minority ugly briton

Yes the Yankies have done things which are to be admired but I for one do not wish to become one .
I am sure the revenge they are now reapping on the Arabs proves how open minded they are , just because they want to rule the World I see no reason to join them.
