Anybody sold their house in UK whilst in Oz?
Heyoh,
Bearing in mind the state of the UK house market, just wondering if anyone has thought about, or already, moved to Oz before selling the house.

We did exactly that and it is a lot easier than you think. We had a last minute glitch with our buyers and by this time we had sent our furniture on the container and booked flights had a farewell party and all the rest of it so we had no choice but to sell the house from this end.
We left the UK in October and the house finally sold to the same buyers in March. We had a very good solicitor who was in touch with us constantly and our estate agent was a bit of a rarity in that they too were very helpful and easily accessible although the time difference meant we did receive some phone calls at odd times.
If I had to do it again I would but it would be a major weight off your mind to have it all done before you leave.

So we have left it in the hands of our estate agents, and are hoping for a sale as soon as possible. Fingers crossed!!
Do you not have to pay tax on the money if you do not take it with you??
