Just thought I'd let you know there's a cheap petrol/ diesel day here in NZ - 10 cents off a litre. Filled up with 53 litres of diesel this am at 45.9c a litre! That's about NZD35 a tank or GBP12 to you (650 kms in my badass 4WD).

Bloody Hell!!

My Jeep Grand Cherokee costs me £55GBP to fill up and I only get 250 miles out of it.

It's just gone up by 4p a gallon as well!

Anyone know why petrol is so much cheaper out there?

Must be taxes on our fuel?

yup we pay a load of tax on ours - a huge portion - which goes to Mr Brown.

Havign said that, its not much cheaper in France and some other parts of Europe although when I was living in Luxembourg it was 50p a litre for petrol. V cheap there.

Can't believe that it costs me 8 quid a day in petrol to go to work in uk @79.4ppl.A full tank at 12 quid it would last me over a week
:scared: :scared: We are taxed to death in U.K if you drive, smoke and enjoy a drink over here you are one of the highest taxed people in the U.K.

Depending what you earn in $s here (Aus) petrol could work out just as expensive.

Dont get a job and its just as expensive.

I paid 80 cents a litre this week but it's been as high as $1.09 since we've been here, rather pay this though than 80 pence a litre, we fill our tank "much bigger than our UK car "for the same amount only in dollars!

If you earnt £30k in the UK and $30k here it matters not if its 80p or 80c it costs the same. !! If you earnt $30k here petrol would be a damn site more than UK comparitvely.

If you earn £30k in UK you would need to earn approx. $54000 to give you a similiar standard of living. Pro rata.

Information taken from http://www.gomatilda.co.uk/calculator/index.cfm This is on an average as it costs more depending on state.

You can also work out interstate costs.

for example if you earn $54k in Perth and move to Sydney you would need to earn $95k or $49k in Brisbane or $85k in Melbourne or $47k in Adelaide.

Plenty more calculators for income tax etc. at http://www.movingdownunder.co.uk/files/finance.php

Fill the car up for about $45 (petrol) and $17 for the bike!
I'm earning the same (in relation) as I was in the UK, so I reckon it's CHEAP "....like a budgie"
