In the UK clinical psychologist have to do doctorates, which is the bit the Australian Psychological Society have approved as equivalent for me. From what I've heard Aus has loads of general psychologists like you said, everyone is studying it, but clinical psychologists have good opportunities? Hope that's the case! Zoe |

I've been reading the posts as I am in the middle of this process from the UK looking to move to Melbourne. Would love to hear how people got on and if anyone knows what the job market is like for CP's in Melbourne. I have done the APS bit which approved 6 years equivalent study but am now going to do the rest with the PBA and AHPRA. I'm 10 years qualified and trying to figure out whether to just give them info from the last year or for more years than that. Have people found they approve UK clinpsychs ok? I'm grateful for any advice Zoe You should be fine to get registered here as a clinical psychologist. i'm now a registered psychologist. I have to wait 1 year in order for me to get endorsement in clinical psychology as i'm a newly qualified from the U.K. As for jobs - you should have no problem, there seems to be plenty for both psychologists and clinical psychologists (more so for private practice work though). |
