Smile Any tips on short term accomm till we decide?

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has any tips on short to medium term accommodation in Australia so that we can shop around a bit before buying or long term retning in Aus. We are looking around Melboourne maybe the mornington peninsula and can't seem to find anything we can afford. Don't want to slum it but need to find our feet before we commit. Preferably in something furnished. Any good websites or tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

When are you planning on moving?

http://www.moving-to-melbourne.co.uk...ommodation.htm

aimed predominantly at new migrants. Kate is excellent with advice as well if you cant find anything through them..

www.stayz.com.au

more mainstream furnished holiday accomodation, but massive choice. all price brackets

www.lastminute.com.au sometimes has something on offer, especially if you are aiming at mornington outside the holiday periods.

(or PM me if you fancy the Dandenong ranges )

You could try Craigslist Melboourne site.

Hi, furnished accommodation is available, tends to be paid for by the week and is more pricey than renting long term unfurnished, but does give you flexibility.

Hey!

I have been researching renting in australia. Do you have any good websites to look on so I can get a guide on how much it will cost? Is there any furnished properties as I plan to sell all of my belonging before moving.

Thanks

Furnished properties tend to be expensive and available short term (a few weeks).

Long term rentals are almost always unfurnished, there's not even a fridge.

The longer term furnished property market is mainly orientated at the business sector in general, and you will find $1000 per week nothing unusual.

You could look at holiday lets for a longer period. Prices can sometimes be flexible depending on length of stay and vicinity, but it will still be much more expensive compared to unfurnished.

Stayz is a good website but as others have said, furnished accomm is expensive if you are planning on staying for more than a few weeks.
You can usually find good nightly rates on FF apartments on Wotif, but it depends on where you are looking. I usually get 3-bed FF apartments on the Sunshine Coast for about $150/night for instance.

Good luck!
