Default any recommendations for building pools?

Moving to Brisbane soon.
Going to get a swimming pool and spa put in straight away.
Anyone had any good or bad experiences with local companies and able to make any recommendations. Looked in the Yellow pages recently and there were so many wouldn't know where to start!!
Also any price guides would be appreciated.

Dig a BIG hole.

Fill with water.

Enjoy!

Have the $30k - $40k ready, but don't pay till you are happy with it

Haven't had one done yet, only had the quotes so far.

The pool advertised at $20,000 in the paper comes out at $35k with the extras. And you DO NEED the extras.

It used to be the case that the pool people would only do the pool bit, and you had to get separate contractors in to do the surround/finishing etc. Anyone know if this is still the case?

My advice would to not scrimp on the surrounding work that needs done, especially if it requires walls/concrete etc. Make sure you get a decent contractor and that an engineer draws up the spec and the contractors follow it. It may even be an idea to get the engineer to inspect the work as it is getting done.
