Any Podiatrists from the UK?
Hi everyone
Are there any Podiatrists out there in Australia (particularly Perth) that can tell me about their experiences in gaining Australian registration, finding employment, and life as a Pod in Oz!
Any info would be much appreciated.
Sam.

A couple of websites for you:
Australasian Podiatry Council http://www.apodc.com.au/overseas-qualified-podiatrists/
Guide to allied health in Australia http://www.alliedhealthinoz.com/pod_wa.html
Australian Podiatry Association (Western Australia) http://www.podiatrywa.com.au/
We see a podiatrist in Perth, very impressed by their equipment, knowledge and professionalism. Sport plays a very large role in Australian life, so if you have extra training, knowledge or experience in that area it might improve your opportunities. Paediatrics also important. The practice we go to is pretty busy and not always easy to get an appointment.

I am a Podiatrist. You need to register with AHPRA. You are an occupation in demand and dependant on your age and experience obtaining a visa was fairly easy. However, it is likely you will have to move to a rural area. My employer paid all the expenses for our move.
You will likely have to come over on a 457 Visa or we recieved perm residence with a Rural Migrant Visa - you can't work within 100 km of a major city for two years.
Jobs in WA for podiatrist are far and few between. There are lots in Queensland, Victoria and NSW.
PM me if you want more details ....

Thanks for the replies.
Visa is pretty much sorted now so finding a job will be the only concern!
Will be moving out late 2012 so looks like I'll wait and keep my fingers crossed something comes up!
