Default any other vets?

Are there any other veterinaries here that are migrating to Oz? We seem to be the only ones, so are we beating the rush or doing something stupid that we dont know about? We're hoping to go to Brisbane and the paperwork just for the assessment has been a nightmare. Hoping to compare notes.

You are not alone!!

The OH is a vet and after coming back from her working holiday last year we have made the decision to "go for it".

Slightly worried by all this talk of complicated paperwork, stay in touch and we can hold each others hand

1st choice will be Tas. OH just come back from 3mths over there and really loved it. 2nd choice would be Vic. as thats the area I am most familiar with.

Which agent did you go for. we have chatted to 6-7 now and finding it very difficult to plump for one

We have gone with Go Matilda, they are very good and have been very helpful, also they have their own forum that most of the expats also look at. www.gomatilda.com We found their prices reasonable and since my OH is at work all the time, they just send forms that need basic details and signing. The paperwork was a nightmare as far as the assessment is concerned because you have to be a member of the Qld vet authority before the AVBC will look at you, and to do that you need to get a letter of good standing from the RCVS, its all wheels within wheels, but then you have to also pay your subs for this year even though you wont be there physically till next year. It may be different in Tas, but check first. My uncle lives in Vic, but then it seems that everyone I speak to has an uncle in Vic!

How very true about the uncles in Victoria.

I will need to look into the Tas. requirements by the sounds of it and also will give GoMatilda a shout, not on our list at the moment

Stay in touch
