Arrow any mobile phone experts?

just got myself a Samsung A800 phone, advertised on ebay as "locked to virgin and tmobile", put my tmobile sim in and it asks for "SP password"

Does this mean it's sim locked or is this actually going to lock the phone?

Help please....................

It means it's locked to Virgin. Your seller has got confused because Virgin piggybacks on the T-Mobile network in the UK.

Tried that but didnt work................ So "SP Locked" is to do with the sim not the phone?

Just concerned in case the phone will be useless...

Hmm interesting. I couldn't say for sure but if it's just asking for a password, it means it's locked in some way. You need to take it to 'the guy on the market' who will probably be able to either help you or otherwise put you out of your misery.

You wouldn't be able to find one that works for my Sony Ericsson T610 would you. Have been to two market stalls, both tried several times and couldn't do it. Really like the phone but looks like I will have to replace it. Locked to Orange at the moment.

Every time I have googled, I haven't been able to find a code for it.

Doing a quick search on the web it looks like you have to go to a dodgy shop as it requires a cable connected to a computer to unlock it rather than just a code. If you can't find a shop you could check ebay for a cable and download the software then do it yourself.

Had this problem with my daughters phone she had a menu in the phone that asked if ou wanted to lock the Sim to the phone, this is not the same as phone lock or any Sim lock it is to do with the security number usually six digit, in her case she was on the virgin network, she then changed the security code, the phone is unlocked but when you put a different sim in you have to enter the security code, not a sim code or phone lock code. she lost this security code now making the phone useless unless you use the original Sim that the phone was locked to. This prevents any person picking up your phone sticking in their sim and using it, or the market traders from un barring any phones. The only people that can change this is not the network phone operator, but the phone manufacturer or an prroved repair centre, or someone illegally. This comes straight from Virgins mouth, and this was what happen to us.

Hope this helps.
