Default Any idea's - hedgehog??

Just back from walking mutley and see from a distance this lil fella strolling up me drive. The pic aint the best, but I think the flash was scaring it so I only took a couple.

It's got 4 legs and a head. Eyes too and a bit of a hooter, the pic don't show it but easy an inch long ...lol

Hoping it's just passing thru, but anyone?

Do not drive over it given any option - even if it's been squashed previously ... they are nightmare's to tyres, not just once, but same one can cause months worths of slow, slow punctures!

I speak from experience

So sweet arent' they? They're actually marsupials ~(same as kangas!) and are very soft to stroke... which I was surprised about! We had a load of indigenous animals at a conference I was at and one of these little fellas was a guest!

never actually seen one 'in the wild' though!

They are not marsupials. They are monotremes - mammals that lay eggs - and the only other monotreme in the world is the platypus, also found only in Australia. They are quite easy to see in the wild in Victoria.

I think they are protected. Didn't do much for the ones living at the back of our house though when the did a bush burn off.
