Hiya

We've been here on the Gold Coast [Palm beach] for nearly four months now, and we'll struggling! We have three teenaged boys. The 14 year old seems to be getting on with it, but the 16 and 18 year olds just want to go home. Are there any new arrivals in the same boat?

Hi and a happy new year to us all

We (myself Paula 39, Simon, hubby 40, George 10 and Harry 8) have been here since October, we have met up with a few other expats who are great company and who would probably love to meet up with lots of others too, if someone can organise a date and place we will be there and will pass the message on. Sorry but we havent been around any of the taverns yet so cannot recommend, but meeting up at the beach or a park where there is a BBQ and we can bring our own is a good idea, the older children can go off and play to leave us grown ups! in peace, with a beer or two

I'll second that, unless it's indoors.

Anyone got a place in mind?

Unfortunately I dont know of any place we could meet indoors where there is something to do for the children apart from the cinema, but it defeats the object of a meet, I think the sun will be shining by next Saturday, fingers crossed lets provisionally book in the afternoon for a meet, I am at work until 2.30 but hubby will have the boys so could tag along after, if its a nice day, lets choose a beach or park if someone can recommend one and go for it. How do you all feel about that?

We need a park or beach which is central to everyone, any ideas!
Burleigh heads is great, although not central But there's a nice (small) park for the under teens! it is right by the beach which is good for the older ones, with a BBQ area, toilets and a cafe close by, but this maybe too far for some of you, if you dont fancy driving too far. Otherwise Broadbeach is nice, park wise I dont know although there are plenty of them! Cascade gardens at surfers looks nice when we've driven past. Anyone else know of somewhere?

There's a nice little park at Southport opposite Australia Fair. There's a little enclosed swimming area as well thats nice too.

Anytime is good for us. Hoping to drag all three boys along, so that will be a 14, 16 and a very nearly 18 year old. Looking forward to it! Mandy x
