Any Florists/ new business people out there?
 

Hi

Just wondered if there are any florists out there.

My dream is, if/when we get our visa is to move to Perth and start my own business, a florist shop.

Has any one started their own business and have any advise?

I'm so excited and nervous!

Not very related to Perth but....

I had a moment of inspiration yesterday to buy my g/f a nice bunch of flowers. I went to the toomball shopping centre in Brisbane (OK, not sure of the spelling, its the one on the way to the airport) and in the entire place there was a single florist, with only a small selection either real cheap $5-10, or over $40. I was kinda looking middle of the road $15-$20. I ended up getting none and remember thinking that a good florist would make a killing in this place:- Good size shopping centre and one very small shop which was 1/2 florist 1/2 gifts and hence being not very good at either.

I guess with anything, success can depend on location, location, location! I dont know if Perth has this, but QLD government website has some useful get started manuals for an array of different business types, it summarises the market and then goes thru a step by step explanation of whats important and also what you need to do (such as licenses) to get started. Not sure if they have the same in Perth, but I am sure the QLD one would still be useful just the law might be a little different. I have found the link to the florist one:

Some good points and the website addressses will be v useful. Will bear Brisbane in mind if there are too many florists shops in Perth!
