I have made a few contacts in Australia and in the UK who deal with trucking firms. I have found trucking firms recruiting Polish drivers to work in Ozz, but still a lot of red tape for British Drivers.
What I'm wondering is there any ex-pat truck drivers who are driving for Australian companies on a HC licence.
If so what experiances have you had?

I am working Friday - Monday with 1 or 2 nights out in between, it's general haulage work which will keep me busy and will be transporting the big CAT's on a low loader as well I think down to Southhampton for export.
The truck will be a topline Scania with a semi -automatic gearbox which should be fun.
I am still holding out for Australia but in the mean time I have to work and I have put my name down for Hope And Aid which will be a couple of weeks round trip to Kosovo to take aid supplies. The Widdowson Group said that wont be a problem. I just have to fork out for derv and tickets etc, but it's a good cause.

My wife is a Filipino and we met while she was working and living in New York in the Pharmaceutical industry and even 4 years on now she misses family but we have not been home to New York or the Philippines for 2 years now because we are a slave to the wage.
I would worry about her if I took a truck driving job in Australia if I worked for 2 weeks on the road solidly, but that is part of my life being a truck driver and seeing the world from the eyes of a truck.

Maybe we should start a thread for truckie widows !!!
I too am a truckie widow !!!
I came to Australia at end of August this year to live with my Aussie boyfriend who is a truck driver. He started a new job not long after we arrived in Oz - he drives an oil tanker and is often away for 4 or 5 days at a time. I must admit that it can be a bit daunting at times ... being in a new country away from friends and family is hard enough but having to stay at home while he is away driving can be quite difficult for both of us. I am hoping that once I find a job it will make being on my own at home a little easier. Despite that, I still love being in Australia and I love all that the country has to offer.
