Any Dental Technicians out there?
Hi,
We are hoping to be receiving our PR visa in about 2-3 months. Hubby is a Dental Technician with a 4-year experience constructing crowns and bridges (metal-ceramic, metal-composite, metal-acrylic etc).
Has anyone here had any experience in doing this kind of work?
If so, can you give hints or info of how the job searching went? Did you start looking for a job before arriving to Australia?
Do they look for experienced DTs on the market?
What about obtaining a registration in any boards? What's the process?
Also we are trying to get an idea on wages for Dental Technicians. Researched the job websites a bit ourselves, but weren't that lucky.
We still don't know where we'll land.
Thanks to everyone,
Julia

Re: Any Dental Technicians out there?
Hi,
You don’t necessarily have do be dental technicians to answer this thread. I’m counting on your personal experience. We have noticed that there are several (5-10) dental technician job ads on the internet (most of them in the big cities) and that these ads get renewed, because these jobs are not taken by anyone and remain vacant for months. Anyone can explain why?
There would be more possible explanations:
1. The Dental laboratories making the recruitments are very demanding with high expectations and standards that are not met by any dental technician or are met by few.
2. There are not enough Dental technicians on the labor market, and that would be great news for us, but this explanation is highly improbable, if you ask me.
What is your opinion? Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Thanks,
Julia

I don't think your being ignored, I don't think there are any dental technicians on here, I could be wrong. Infact I don't think there are any dental technicians full stop out here, we all just tie our teeth to the tractor and send it off down a hill.
