Lightbulb Any CNC Engineers in Mackay, Townsville, Bundaberg, Rockhampton or Gladstone

Hey all,

Does anybody on this site work as a cnc engineer in Mackay, Townsville, Bundaberg, Rockhampton or Gladstone.

If so please could you inform me if there is a shortage of them in these areas as that is what i am going to do (hopefully in these towns).

Many Thanks

Tony

Do you mean a CNC service engineer, a programmer, a production engineer or a machinist ?

Mate of mine is a CNC service engineer, same as me, and has just come back from Melbourne.
He worked for an agent that covered the whole of Aus so knows most areas.
If you can be more specific I'll ask him.

Kevin

I don't know what a CNC engineer is or does - however I do know a little about Rocky, Bundy, Mackay etc and basically anything with "engineer" in it is very saught after and on a good wage. Its very difficult to find any staff in these regions as the place is booming.

I have spoken to my mate today.
His company didn't have any customers up that far.
Lots around Brisbane and the Gold Coast but none much further north.
He thinks there are firms up there, just not as many as Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Judging by the general skills shortage you should be ok.
Most machines are Fanuc control or Mazaks with Mazatrol, some Mitsubushi, hardly any Heidenhain or Siemans.

Only fly in the ointment is wages, not great anywhere $45,000 was a reasonable starting wage for a setter/programmer in Melbourne, don't know if you would end up with more or less money by being away from the main areas.
One of the reasons my mate came home was the poor pay.

Why these areas ?
PM me if you want any more info.
