Hi Deb
My son is a bricklayer and moved to Brisbane 8 weeks ago. apparently loads of work out there as long as you are good at your job.

Hi Debbie.
Plenty of Brickies here. Plenty of work. Lots of poms doing it !
Had a english brickie, working in the gang that built my place. He had been here in Oz about 6 weeks... said the money wasnt as good, but continuity of work, weather and hours were awesome.
Just for the record.. in Summer Brickies, struggle ( QLD that is )
The weather is so hot and humid, it is extremely hard work, and flash afternoon storms, can ruin a days work in 2 minutes

Hi Debbie
I think you will find that they are paying $240-$280 a day.

Hi, what is the work mainly ? Is it price work or day rate. What is the main building in Brisbane, houses or commercial ?

When you first get there day rate, once you learn the ropes. Different way of building out there. Mainly timber framed, use profiles, gauge from the wall plate down, nothing below damp straight of slab good for the old back, large format bricks and different gauges on different jobs. You can start your own gang and approach the main builders for work. Would then be price work and you have to supply sand and cement.
