Default Ambulance cover in Vicroria

You are not entitled to free ambulance cover in Victoria.

If you have private health insurance in Oz then it may include ambulance costs ( which can reach several thousand dollars. The basic cost is $735. Air ambulance costs can reach $10,000).
However that means you will have to make a claim on your health insurance .There is usually an excess to pay .

Melbournehelp strongly reccomends that you take out ambulance cover .
Cost - $50 per year for singles
$100 per year for families .
You can pay up to five years at once -the cost is the same for families ($500)but you get a 3 month bonus .

You can pay by credit card, in cash/cheque at the post office , on the web or by mail .
You have an option to arrange a direct debit with your bank so you don't let it lapse each year .

If you are injured in a car accident however the Gov't Transport accident scheme will pay the costs of medical treatment and ambulance .

have a look at www.ambulance.vic.gov.au
