Default Amazon.com.au

Bad/good news

The www.amazon.com.au site is now populated. So far it's only with kindles and ebooks, but no telling if they will start stocking other stuff - at Oz rather than US prices. If they keep the US prices and maybe add on a little for postage/GST, then it could be good - but if they match Oz prices and stop people buying from elsewhere, it could cut off an online shopping avenue.

Watch this space.

A few further tidbits have come to light.

There is an option to transfer an amazon.com account to amazon.com.au for buying digital content in Aus dollars. However the general advice is to hold off.

People have studied the ebook prices and found that, currently, some prices are slightly cheaper than the converted US prices.

However others have found a different selection of books is much more expensive.

Hence, hold off.

I'd seen that amazon.com.au had started up but it didn't look much cop when I had a look.
I loved Amazon in the UK. I stocked up before my shippers came and have enough reading until about Easter time. Not sure what I will do then.

Only books at the moment, but it does seem to have most obvious suspects in this area. No telling if they will extend their range in future.

Ideal would be the full range at US prices.

Hell would be the full range at AU prices.
