I submitted my skilled (non IT) application in Nov 2001 to Adelaide. I suspect I will have to wait a long time before it comes through. I am currently living in London with my Australian partner and have been for the past 12 months. My partner and myself were planning on moving to Australia in late July 2002, but doubt my visa will have come through.

One option is to go in on a tourist visa and keep leaving every 3 months until the skilled visa comes through. Not ideal and I would be barred from work.

Are there any temp visas that I could enter Australia on and also permits me to work - as my partner is an Aussie. I have already had a working holiday visa so thats not an option. If so, can I apply for it in Australia?. How long would it take etc?
