Default allergies warning

when you start your children in an aussie school ,they will ask if your child has any allergies ..if the answer is yes ,you will have to go and see a specialist to have it sorted out..as at the moment it has cost us 500 bucks for two trips to see the nut man and is going to cost another 500..

it may pay to sort it out before you come over....

Couldn't you just send her in a letter in your formal capacity as 'nutter' ?

How do you "sort out " an allergy, is there some cure I am unaware of?

Or is it just pay lots of money to be told "Don't eat nuts"

Hi there Aston,my daughter never had allergies untill we got over here in Perth, and altogether she had nine last yr mostly near enough 2 weeks apart, she went to allergie testing were she had lots of pricks done and they were all negative,so we gave the things again over different periods and shit she had allergic reactions!!!the worst one was xmas day just after out turkey dinner she kept saying she didnt feel too good, then her lips swelled up and red big blottches all over her and she just collapst in my arm so im screaming to my hubby to get the ambulance, they came so quick but it seemed like forever anyhow they rushed us to fremantle and everyone couldnt believe how bad she was!!!So that trip they charged $500,what i cannot understand is how they can justifiy that for a child!!!
Anyhow her school have been good and we wasnt told to go take her to be tested,we asked our doctor to refer her to St Princess Margarets so it cost nothing.
But touch wood we know most off the things she cant have now and so does she as they have all been different which makes it harder, like Chocolate mud cake, blueberry yogurts, mayo, gravox gravy, chicken, turkeyshit list goes on and its so worrying when ure child has food allergies.
I feel sorry for u2 or anyone else with children with these probs

Our daughter has been tested here, and is allergic to lentils, brazil/hazle/wal nuts.

Is this sorted?

Are you saying we might need some sort of note from a Doc?

That sounds horrendous I'm no expert, in fact I know sod all about allergies but that list of stuff she is allergic to, are you sure she isn't just allergic to gluten and dairy products? Not that that makes it ok but I just wondered.

Hi moneypen, well were not really sure as there is sooo many, but i have never seen reactions to food b4 so you can imagine our fright, but i would say it is so dangerous and you are always worrying as to what the hell she can eat,as she eats like a horse too that doesnt help because she likes anything. But i know i wouldnt wish it upon anyone to have a child with food allergies(our any allergies come to it)you just never know, she as had the addrenallin jab soo many times in hospital its awfull. But she as now had months and been ok!!!So we just keep the foods she cant have off the list. She also had bad reaction to mcdonalds chicken nuggets just after school one day,as i got it on way home from work for her, picked her up and within 15mins we were down at hospital,so not really sure as to what it is but hey thanks for the reply

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you should have a hypodermic with you in case of emergency, so you can give her a shot yourselves if necessary. Is this allowed? You must never feel safe with that problem hanging over you. It would help if you can get to the bottom of exactly which ingredients are affecting her.

Hi there thanks for ure reply, well they was going to give us one but because she hasnt had them in a while we didnt get one off them because they said she would have to have more testing!!!DER i think any child with allergies should have one no matter what.
And problam is the hospital where she should go for testing is St Princess Margartes in Perth and have to be there like 8am but because of work and we now live in Rockingham it is a night mare trying to sort days to fit in with work etc so im hoping that something closer by could be possible as im not the best of drivers over here as i feel they drive like nutters,Hopefully something get sorted very soon.
