Default To all Irish/celtic minded people living in or heading to Brisbane

Hi, This is an information post, which can also be archived in the future, so could any non Celts please refrain from hijacking this thread.
Many thanks!

The Brisbane Celtic Supporters Club has just formed a new committee and expanded its membership.

We are based at Omalleys Irish Pub in the winter garden centre, Queen st mall, Brisbane. We watch most games live, on a sat or sun night. For the Old Firm Games we have a great DJ with four hours of Irish/ Celtic music, either side of the match.
We also meet every 2nd Tuesday at 8pm, for a social gathering/ meetings and re-runs of games.

Our club is fully inclusive and aims, is to provide a friendly welcome to all Bhoys & Ghirls, either living in Brisbane, migrating or simply visiting. It is a great way to create a new social circle, and meet new friends, and share a few beers. The club is non profit making and in the great traditions of Celtic, also intends to raise money for local charities.

Our members are a mixture of Scottish, Irish, English and Australian, of all ages.
We also intend to have regular social events, which are family orientated, unfortunately for live games, children are not allowed in the pubs over here, but we have access to tapes of the games, we also attend the Queensland Roar soccer games, as a group.

We have just set up a website, its basic at present, but we are adding to it all the time www.Brisbane's.com

We are in the process of setting up links with the other Australian Celtic supporters clubs, and are looking to arrange trips to Sydney and Melbourne in the future.

Our intention is to create social links with the Irish Rugby Union and Gaelic Football clubs in Brisbane, providing a Celtic family service to new migrants.

Good luck with the project John, hope you get well supported.

Was in New York last year, went to see the February old firm game, was made most welcome by a cel'ic supporters club in a pub not far from Broadway, the name escapes me

Would us less Celtic, Dons supporters be made welcome for the odd game, would be good to hear some real banter at a game again!!

We dont like the orange people either you know

Thanks for that John.

Little too early and North for us (we are migrating next July, and likely to end up in Sydney).

Will certainly look you up when up your way though.

Any idea what the Sydney setup is?

Hail Hail.r

P.S. Posted on kerrydalestreet.co.uk (hope you don't mind) - they often have fans looking for Oz contacts, etc.

P.P.S. The website link in your original message doesn't seem to work (www.Brisbane's.com).
