Smile All Australian PR applicants will now have to pass a test in Chinese

The immigration minister, Chris Evans, today announced that due to the massive international trade Australia has with China, all new applicants for permanent residency in Australia will have to pass a test in the Chinese language.

This will be similar to the existing test in English language and both tests will apply in order to gain PR.

This will be immediately effective from today, April 1st 2008.
