Re: ALICE SPRINGS
Hi,
I too job offer at alice springs hospital, we visited alice in feb it was hot!! but the people there are great, its a place that you either love or hate. Some poeple are fearful of the aborigional presence but if you respect their life they respect yours. My OH has cousins in alice they have been there 4 years and have 2 kids under 6yrs and they have a great lifestyle. Houses are cheaper then elsewhere in oz and there are many benefits for nurses in alice.
hope that helps

It's a very close knit community, although also quite transient. Poverty is an issue especially for the aboriginal peoples who you are far more likely to come into regular contact with than if you move to a big city. Isolation is also an issue for some people there, although many people I met love it and now couldn't live anywhere else.
Don't know the hospital, but my wife is a nurse and I'm sure she'll check out some health stuff there next week.

I've never been to Alice but I wouldn't want to be stuck there if I hated it which I suspect there is every chance you might.

It all depends on what you are looking for from a place to live. I stayed four days that was plenty. It is very hot and very isolated. I found there to be a lack of things to do, but then as I said before it all depends on you and what you are looking for!
