Aldi opened its doors in Queensland.
THOUSANDS of shoppers queued for hours yesterday to buy brand name groceries when German retailer Aldi opened its doors in Queensland.
story:- CourierMail - Aldi article
An ALDI is also under construction here at Victoria Point.

I totally agree. We've got an Aldi near us and I shopped there once when it first opened to give it a try, never again!! The food was awful

We have got one about 8 miles away - I went there once! Never knew so many sad gits lived so close:scared: It's not just the food that's bad. But it did make me appreciate what I've got. LOL

It's got better in the UK!!!
I was really disappointed with it during my student days, but sometimes couldn't afford not to shop there.
However, I was car-less about a month ago and popped in for some milk etc. and was pleasantly surprised. I managed to get quite a lot of good camping stuff, dirt cheap. I got one of those torch things you put on your head, sleeping bag liners, a picnic set, toys for the kids and a set of petanque boules (for £3.99!).
I've decided to pop in there more often, but I wouldn't be able to do my main shop there, as the lines are quite limited.
As for sad old gits, if someone on a pension can get a bit more for their dosh, then fine! I think just having Aldi / Lidl around has the effect of driving prices down in the other stores, so be glad of that!
Anyway, I'm off to buy my warning triangle set later, need one for driving on the continent!

Aldi.........haha.
What we really need is a Sainsbury's or a Tesco.
Although I must admit I think the Wollies and Coles are a hell of a lot better than when I first used them in '91.
