Default Airfares on the way back up?

Looks like the price war on the kangaroo route could be coming to an end:

Emirates to raise fares out of Australia

Emirates airline will increase fares for all cabin classes on its flights out of Australia starting Thursday, according to a spokesperson.

While the airline did not divulge the percentage increase in fares, according to a report published yesterday in Sydney Morning Herald, the company would increase fares by seven per cent.

Oh, this doesn't mention fares the other way from UK to Oz and back. I want to book for end January next year, but hubby is convinced we should wait and that there may be a 'sale' like we got last year.

Can't say I'm surprised, it was never sustainable. Massive global downturn and a price war at the same time must have been bleeding the airlines dry.
