Default Air New Zealand?

Hi Guys

Planning on flying Air New Zealand. Has anyone flown with them before and if so would you recommend them?

Cheers

Hi we have flown previously with them and couldn't fault them but no seat back TV's - with having a 5 year old going on 15 who likes to watch her own programmes/play computer games we went for Emirates.

Cheers

I agree. Worth checking with them and/or their web site to see have they have TVs in the chairs now

On time, lots of legroom, excellent Pacific stopover locations, 64kg baggage allowance per person. We thought they were good.

Air NZ generally fly to Auckland via Los Angeles, so make sure your passport/visa meets US requirements even if only transiting - as you will need to clear US customs and immigration.

Machine readable passport is a must for the visa-waiver, and children on parents passports is now a no-no.

Also, if you are merely transiting the USA and not staying there for a break, you've got to ask yourself whether you really want to spend the en-route put-down standing in a long immigration queue simply to tell the immigration officer that you intend to be in the USA for an hour and a half!

I flew from Auckland to London on them, and from Singapore back to NZas well as domestic flights. You won't have any problem with them. I'd fly them anytime. Top notch!

Where are you moving to, If NZ then it makes sense to go VIA the states as it is quicker, if Australia I really would not recomend it, The flights is too long, as stated by other posters you have nothing but hastle flying into the states these days.

I flew that way round the world to Australia before and it took me well over 2 weeks to feel normal again with the jet lag, coming to OZ the other way round the world and I feel fine the next day

Hi

Got UK passport with skilled independent visa in it. Have been to US on hols before and just filled out form on the plane to get in (last time went was in September 2004).

Is it different if we are going to Oz to stay? We plan to stay in LA for a week.

What do you mean we need to meet US requirements/ Are these different to if you are going on hols to US but then back to UK?

Thanks

US rules for the visa waiver scheme changed on 26 October 2004.

It makes no difference wher you plan to travel onwards to Australia or go back to the UK. Also, people even changing planes in the US must have the right passport.

If travelling on the visa waiver scheme

1. You *must* have a machine readable passport. If your Britsh passport was issued in the UK it's likely to be ok, but if it was issued by a British consulate or embassy overseas, check it carefully.

2. Children on parents passports is a complete no-no for the US visa waiver now. They need individual machine-readable passports.

If you don't know what a machine readable passport is, you need to find out. Look at this page:
http://www.passports.gov.au/web/us_visa_entry.aspx

These rules do not apply to those with valid US visas.
