Air Mauritius

Can anyone offer a recent experience of flying with them? What is the baggage allowance? Also what is Mauritius airport like? Have seen a very good deal on a flight but not really heard much about them. Help please :)

I don't know the answer to this, but would like to know the answer also. I noticed the prices of their flights looked really good when I checked online last week.

Hi,
Used to fly with them regularly when I visited Mauritius and Madagascar on business.
The flights tend to be okay, nothing special. The baggage allowance is 20kgs if I remember correctly, and 1 piece of hand luggage.
They share Air France flights, as sometimes I booked on airfrance or vis-versa and ended up on the other airline, depends where you fly from.
Anyway in my opinion they are okay, although air france have a habbit of making luggage disapear!

I think a lot of them make luggage hop off to different destination

Anyone else have any experience of Air Mauritius

A pretty good airline actually - have flown them a couple of times. Last time was Perth-Mauritius return a couple of years back. New Airbus 340-600 with all the modcons. Mauritius airport is fairly basic although as the island is a tourist mecca attracting travellers from all over the globe it is well organised and safe. The Gatwick-Mauritius flight is very popular and once again, no complaints. The UK-Maur-Aus route actually works very well as both legs are usually at night which means you get some sleep!

The only negative is that flights you can fly every day Lon-Maur (either on Air Mauritius - direct - or Air France which means a Paris stop), but not every day Maur-Aus. So you need to be careful when booking. Also, the stopovers in Mauritius may be long even if you're connecting same day. A few days in Mauritius is not the worst thing that can happen though - amazing island!

I'm a bad flyer so am quite picky, but would have no hesitation in booking with them. Have flown many worse.

Are you allowed to go out of the airport when you stop over or do you have to wait in the air departure lounge

I'd think you'd need to a visa of some kind to leave the airport?

Anyone else out there who can give and thumbs up or down to Air Mauritius

There are recent passenger reviews of the airline here:

Perhaps you may choose another airline lol!

Actually you might want to check out the prices and deals with this consolidator, I know quite a few expats in Singapore get their friends and rellies to buy tickets through Lees as they often have v. good fares:

Already loojked at the airlinequality thing. Can't say're much worse than any of the big players on long haul and as saving £800 I'm not sure it's worth the expense....but for some reason do want to go with Emirates (who seem to be getting a LOT of recent complaints) :frown:

I just flew Emirates from Aus to UK and back last week and they were fine - very good in fact.

Having flown thousands of times, I now reliase that every airline flight is different and it comes down to the quality of the crew and whether you get lucky with timings.

Every flight can be different and ask several passengers how it went and you'd get several answers. We last flew to Aus with Emirates and found them very good, seats fine, in flight entertainment good, got free drinks etc. But is it worth the extra?

Is there any chance you can let me know what in flight is like? Are seats ok, food? entertainment, do you have to pay for drinks etc?
Would be very helpful ;)
