Air Conditioning specialist, Looking for Employer Sponsorship in Melbourne
Hi all, I needed a little advice. Can someone please help? I am looking for an Air conditioning position in Melbourne. I have worked for a number of the industries well respected manufacturers, but I am finding it really really difficult attracting companies to offer sponsorship. I understand that most companies hesitate because of the rules and the costs involved but I would be looking for a non hands on role, actually more in the Technical support, design or sales positions. can anyone help me move forward? As I have a family, and a good job in the UK, the last thing I want to do is have any regrets or be back on the next plane home. If I do the move it should be for life... thats it.... Your hekp and advice would be highly appreciated.
Many Thanks in advanced

Your experience of not being able to find a company willing to sponsor is entirely common.
If you did find one it is more likely that they would offer temporary employer sponsored visa anyway so this is not compatable with your statement that this would be a move for life. In the last couple of weeks alone I have seen more than one plea for help because the job has come to an end and the individual does not want to uproot settled children and move back to UK but has no choice because of the temporary nature of the visa.
So if you are interested in a move for life and would like an easier path than finding an employer sponsor (needle & haystack spring to mind) then I would recommend you look into skilled migration, which offers permanent residency. I believe air conditioning skills are on the list.

As someone who owns an air conditioning business, I'd have to say that I would never consider offering sponsorship to someone that's not already out here. My experiences with 457's in the past have not been good, although despite this I'm probably going to offer it to an Irish lad who's with us now on a WHV. My contact with people seeking sponsorship has always left me feeling they're looking to do something as easy as without too much effort which in my opinion adds up to lack of commitment.
Moving to the other side of the world is a total shock to the system in far too many ways to go into now and very few, if any, just arrive and blend in without seriously considering 'what the hell have I done' and 'I want to go home'. My feelings are that without the time, effort and finances put into getting here under your own steam it's just too easy to give up and disappear when the going gets tough - and it will.

Re: Air Conditioning specialist, Looking for Employer Sponsorship in Melbourne
Hi and thank you for your valued responses,
Bermudashorts I totally respect your opinion. And believe you me, I am very close to applying my visa application for Victoria state.
Dr Who, Thank you for your valued response too, as mentioned above I am doing my own application, as I would not like to risk having to come back, due to having a young family. I am also looking into regional sponsorship for Perth, however If an employer was to offer me a job, I am led to believe that my application would hold more water. My criteria is working with a recognised brand name or large player within the A/C sector in Aus, therefore either Melbourne, Perth or Sydney would be ok as long as my first criteria is met. I am serious about this move, and not looking to cut and run at the first issue. I would be leaving a good job with MHI, a house and many friends and family behind. However my mind is set and very strong.
Any more thoughts or advise would be welcome, many thanks.

Also your application doesn't need to hold more water. You either meet the criteria or you do not and if you do you *will* get the visa.
