They are very keen in WA.
Man, do they use metric units in oz? (Pa, mm, m/s..)?

The vetassess exam, is ONLY the entry for migration to Australia that's it, if you intend to install Air Con in Victoria you need the license for 1st plumbing registration the 2nd you need to go on a evening course for 14 weeks to gain the Air Con license, then if you are doing servicing of Air-Con & if you want to be able to disconnect any electrical equipment for air Con you must also get the restricted electrical license & that's very restricting in a given area only.

if i can be of any assistance just ask, if you intend to migrate to Melbourne i can give you information where to do the Air Con course to gain the license.

571090;

there are lots of people from the UK & Europe migrated to Australia, each state has its own requirements regarding licensing, however you may find you have to be registered with the plumbing authority, then you shall have to do a course in the evenings or during the day for the certification for Air Con, then if your going self employed you require insurance then you require another license for refrigeration handling its all money mate, however if your intending to work for a company, then you only need the plumbing license for Air Con then the actually license for Air Con.

as i say every state has its own requirements, best of luck to you;

The weather is great, As for the work, Installing back to back splits is really easy work, Installing ducted heat pumps (reverse cycle) in roof spaces that get above 50 oC isn,t that great. The life style is really good though. And the money's not bad.

I work for Aircor, (used to be called Mandurah Airconditioner installations) They are great to work for. Other companies include Ford and Doohan, Season makers, Pinjarrah Refrigeration and Essential Refrigeration. All the contact numbers are in the local papers which are free.
Are you renting or buying in mandurah?

Martin.

Hi Martin,

We will be renting in the beginning. We will be looking at buying once we have secured jobs.
How did you find work in the beginning? The licencing proceedure is far more advanced than that in the UK. Did you get your licence prior to obtaining work? Sorry for the questions but any information would help... less than two weeks to go now.

Hi Dale,
There are plenty of rentals available at the moment, Unlike when we first came there were just a handful.
I answered a advert in the local paper and went to meet the owner, Just had an informal interview and got the job. I thought it was a bit easy, and then found out later i was the only one to apply.
I still don,t have my licence but am in the process of re applying for it.
Less than 2 weeks, i know that feeling, Not sure if its excitement or terror.You will be fine.

Think it would be a bit different now Mart, as that was 2 years ago, far more living in Mandurah now.

How long have you been working in Aircon Dale? Where abouts are you from in the UK?

Hi Kim,
I'm from the Midlands. I've been involved with split systems air conditioning a couple of years now but been involved with vehicles for about 7 years.

I still haven,t got my licence, I'm in the process of reapplying now, Failed my first attempt 2 years ago even though i have 27 years experience the guy at Tra told me Australia doesn,t need any more split bashers.(Cheeky sod).
I see you do vehicle air con, Thats a whole different ball game. Different licence and qualifications altogether. We are not allowed to work on vehicle air con, And the transport guys can,t work on fixed plant. Totally different to the uk.
