We're heading back to the UK in November, if we go with go Air Asia from the Gold Coast to Standsted, then BMI up to Edinburgh it will cost $3200 for two adults and a baby. We normally fly with Emirates who are quoting $4600.
Is it worth saving the cash and going with Air Asia? Anyone got any horror stories?

Have you included the add-ons & taxes?
I'm in NZ but when I tried similar v Emirates it came out the same.
This was into Stanstead using Air Asia as opposed to BHam using Emirates.

we flew with Air Asia, gold coast to Stansted, via KL.
then onto South Africa after a week with BA, then back to Brisbane with Qantas. To be honest, the service on the Air Asia flight was far better than the other two airlines, and we would definitely fly with them again.

My experience with Air Asia was great and made full of confidence.... Flying from KL to Perth, the Captain announced Perth was fog-bound and he was going to slow the journey to give the fog a chance to clear.... expect to arrive at least 30 mins late..... Then, said he would take one look at the airport on approach and if any indication of not being able to land, we are going straight to Melbourne. Yes, a major delay, but there was certainly no "Gun-ho" attitude to get the plane onto the ground in Perth for a fast turn around to save costs.
Friends of mine flew to UK in Premium 0n Air Asia and loved the flat beds, for the same price as Emirates and similar airlines charge for a standard seat.
Would fly again without hesitation.
