hi has enyone heard of or used an agent for global visas based in london. i have a friend who unfortunatlly is not on the internet at the moment who has been told that they could get there skilled migration visa in 10 months, this led to a little suspition in my mind?.
my freinds have also parted with about 600 pounds of what is to be around 1500 pounds on compleation, even though they were told it is a no visa no fee company, is this also a normal practice for agents.
these agents are not regesterd with mara but as i understand. you only need toi be registerd if based in oz
any help please as money dosent come easy,

I'm sure I have a friend that used Global. They were messed around a bit with the paper work for their sponsored application, and in the end they told AHC to just contact them dirctly and not though the agent. They did get the visa so it can't have been all bad?

I think the "no fee" bit just applies to the agents fee. Your friends will presumably still have to pay the skills assessment and visa app fee.

If your friends are desperate to use an agent they can still find a MARA registered
agent in the UK.

Maybe you could search on the MARA database for them at: http://www.themara.com.au

Other people here have spoken highly of Ian Harrop, who is UK based,

Hi Shaun.

Not sure why your friends are using an agent in the UK, particularly when there's no guarantee that he/she will be registered.

George Lombard contributes a huge amount to this newsgroup , so he's worth contacting.

And if you'll excuse the self-promotion we will also be pleased to help - we now offer skilled migration applicants the option of their visas being processed in the UK, or through our Melbourne office. The benefit of the latter is that we can invoice people in the UK on a no-VAT and no-GST basis (unlike agents based in the UK) - and as skilled applications for UK-based applicants are submitted to Adelaide it means we can also despatch the application and the related documentation to the Department of Immigration on a next day delivery basis.

Hi, I've just signed up with Global visas! They seem pretty helpful so far, and
have been very positive about getting us a visa. I like the idea that I can go and
see them in person in London. I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who's
used them too.

Plus, was does everyone think about the 'no visa, no fee' option. Is there a catch,
d'you think?!

Hi Karen,

None of the reputable agents use the no win no fee scheme because of the
spectacular failure of a firm which used that approach here called Barlows. They
disappeared overnight leaving thousands of clients in the lurch and millions of
dollars unaccounted for. We had to accept a number of their former clients pro
bono because they had expended all their money; a lot of Barlows cases were
completely hopeless with people just paying for hope. But instead of honouring all
the money back guarantees, the principal appears to have just taken the money and
bankrupted himself.

Basically firms in Australia are required to operate trust accounts to avoid this
kind of defalcation, and that means no win no fee doesn't exist here because if
you did it, your earnings would be tied up in your trust account until the win
took place.

So you may find that either new operators, or sharks, are using this approach. But
the idea of an unregistered and un-trust accounting agent fills me with dread on
both counts.

As you say George, they don't seem to have any MARA Registered Migration Agents on board, so it doesn't augur well if there was cause for complaint - ie which professional body would deal with a client complaint?

My p.c. seems to be playing up so my apologies if we have already posted partially completed replies.

We submitted our application through Global Visas last August.

When contacting them by telephone for help in getting together the evidence in support of our skills test and main application we found them to be helpful and knowledable. However, we have found them to be very poor in responding to enquiries by e-mail and letter.

It would also be nice to be sent a short update every few months just to update us with the latest news.

The "no win, no fee" relates only to the Global Visa agency fees (minus the original non-refundable deposit). However, in the small print they do say that if you fail as a result of giving them wrong information then you get no money back. The same applies to failing the medicsl I believe.

Can anyone recommend agents in Sydney. We were sent down on 457 by our UK company. Now the Oz firm they've set up want to sponsor us for PR via ENS. Any good agencies? If they handle RPL even better!!!!

As far as I know, RPL may not be necessary for ENS. But you should be aware that for
ENS as well as skilled independent, there is an age bar once you reach 45.
