Question Age limit for holidays?

We are planning on coming out to Oz on a PR in January and are planning on bringing out my father-in-law for a holiday when we come. However, a couple of people have mentioned to me that there is an age restriction and as he will be 75, they won't let him in even for a short stay. Can someone clarify this for me please?

I didn't realise when you hit a certain age you couldn't go on holiday. So if were to get married, my nan couldn't come out for the wedding?!?!?

I would be interested to hear anyones thoughts on this.

Thanks

Some of the things people dream up to worry you are quite amazing

Your FIL will have no worries visiting on holiday, he could even apply for an aged parent visa to allow him to live here!

Just incase you're not convinced my parents come out every year, currently they are 78 and 81, nobody has turned them back yet

We've recently been looking into this aged traveller thing because we recently moved over & would like my parents to visit - they're currently 75 & 77...

Our understanding is not that they can't get into Australia on holiday but that travel insurance becomes more of a problem when they get to 75. We've been looking at some different insurance companies & some won't insure past 75, others past 80.

That may be the problem not the holiday itself.

Absolutely no problem entering Oz but it can be a drama obtaining travel insurance. Also make sure that they are fit to fly on the day - get a doctor to certify this if there is any question. I have seen several aircraft delayed because of elderly passengers' medical conditions being exascerbated with the flying.

A rellie came last year aged 77 and stayed 2 months :scared:

The biggest problem was insurance- SAGA ended up being the best for her situation (had an op earlier last year) but for emergencies medicare has a reciprical agreement.
