Default After 10.5 months in Australia.......

I have my first proper interview, I applied for a job in big chain plumbers merchants and actually got the reply preferred candidate which was a nice surprise as I've applied for literally hundreds of jobs most without even the courtesy of the "no thanks" reply.

It'll be my first work interview in about 16 years, not even sure what to wear I think smart casual?

Any useful tips?

Hi, I can't help with the specifics of the work you do but I just wanted to say good luck. I have followed your posts and you're ups and downs with interest.

Hows things with the house now?

Be yourself and I'm sure your experience will shine through.

I would think smart casual would be fine. I hate interviews - I always go completely blank and can't think of the answers!! (that's probably why I've not got around to applying for any jobs here yet!!)

Good luck - I'm sure it must be your turn to get some luck now!

The best of luck to you mate I'm starting to realise getting a job isn't going to be easy. If/when I get an interview I'm going for the smarter side of casual. Anyhow good luck and let us know how it goes.

Best of ****ing luck mate. I'd say smart casual too - pair of troo's, shirt, but no tie. Be confident and sure of yourself, but don't come across too cocky, play up how you're excited about the prospect of learning things the Oz way, think up answers to questions like - 'what do you have to offer us' etc - and remember to smile!!! Go get 'em.

Mate I spent two hours at an agency filling in forms just to unload containers :scared:

This job was advertised through an agency and the job is local in Werribee and the guy is meeting me there, but not until 4.30.

I'd go smart casual too, though I would wear a tie, no jacket but nice shirt casual trousers and tie would work well. Would suggest you give a monkies toss and you wouldn't come across as an arse.

good luck hammers man
