New season kicks off, (or rather bounces down) tonight.

I'll be off to Subi Oval on Saturday night to hopefully watch Freo pull off a famous victory against reigning Premiers, Port Adelaide.

I hope you enjoy the football season. For me personally, i could never take to the game and can't see why it occupies so much bloody time on tv.

Coming from NZ we enjoy our sports too, rugby union being the national game, but we I've never come across such a sport mad country as Australia.

UK and Europe are mad on football (soccer) and the yanks on baseball, but sanity is still to be found in those places.
And I just don't get why a country that is basically a desert plays winter sports beginning at the end of summer. If that's not mad I don't know what is!

Oh well, someone has to be I spose, don't they?

Well, the Lions were champions last year.
They came to Subiaco, and Fremantle beat them by 10 goals!!

Only 10 goals??? We'll try to beat that on Saturday.

It's not on the telly over here though At least not this week, it was on Sky a week behind last year.
Lions v Saints sounded like a good game. Well, unless you're a Saints fan anyway

Poor old Nick,hope he recovers quickly. I went to their training ground in January but missed seeing them train:-(
By all accounts Fraser didn't play well - still not recovered from injury. The game was reported on with "live" updates on "The Age" web site.
Last year I listened to AFL games on 3AW radio OL.
The tipping comps are a fun way to follow the AFL season.

The Lions web site had a link to a live radio broadcast but I was at work and thought that might have upset the boss. I know last year you could stream radio across the web from 3 different stations but can't recall what they were now.
I ended up watching the 90-second updates on www.sportal.com.au.

Oh yeah there are several sites that stream the radio commentary, it's just that the game kicked off at 9:45 UK time I thought I might be pushing my luck spending 2½ hours of my working day listening to it I'm hoping it's back on Sky next week. Delayed is better than not at all.
