Talking aeronautical jobs in oz for ex RAF

Hi there, I am currently serving in the RAF as airframe/propulsion, making the move down under within the next 12 months. Just wondering if anyone knows what the job market is like for this trade? Are there any Ex RAF who have made the move to oz, if so have you continued in the aircarft industry?

My brother was a fitter in the RAF and now works for Goodrich. I know its not your area but the A380 has opened a lot of opportunities in Oz.

Cheers for that, I have sent a CV off to quantas, however have heard that they are in the process of down sizing in australia and moving overseas??? but not sure what to believe at the mo just wondered if there were opportunities elsewhere ie, smaller airports etc. moving to brisbane so would be looking at all airports within the surrounding areas.

Sorry I was being a bit sarcastic should have used a smiley! Qantas are getting terrible press here at the moment following several safety related incidents and the spotlight has come on airfcraft maintenance. Also I think their engineers have been threatening strike action over poor pay deals. Maybe google some info. But of course sending off CV cant hurt. Good luck

Sorry, should have pointed out he's based UK but the A380's opened up a lot of work in his speciality. He found his role through Inflight Magazine, maybe there's an Oz version you could look at. Qantas are costcutting, as are most airlines, but there are a lot of new aircraft being delivered and ex RAF are always sought after.

My bro was stationed as Lossie for a few years, we have a lot of family up there, its a great place!
