Advice on renting in Sydney suburbs
We are moving to Sydney for a year and so could do with some advice when it comes to suburbs to look at/avoid. We are looking for somewhere that is ideally 30 minutes commute to the CBD on the train and, given that we have an 8 month old daughter, somewhere that is "family friendly" (ie not too noisy, has some parks etc). We had looked at the St George area on the realestate sites, but we weren't sure how bad the noise from the airport is in say Bexley or Hurstville.
Any suggestions ?
Also, is there a Sydney equivalent of the BritVics forum ?

The St George area (where both Hurstville and Bexley are) is a middling sort of area. There's nothing particularly desirable about it, it's OK to commute from but it doesn't really have an awful lot to recommend it. The suburbs closer to Botany Bay or actually on the George's River are much nicer.
If you're only here for a year and want convenience, then you can't get better than the eastern suburbs. Close to the city, the beaches and fantastic shopping. Wonderful for kids too with heaps to do.
