Default Advice on registering a .com.au domain while still in the UK

Afternoon folks!

The missus wants to register a .com.au in anticipation of our arrival in Oz and launching a business.

However there seem to be all sorts of hoops you have to jump through to register.

Australian Domain Registration Services states the you have to be either:
  • An Australian registered company
  • Trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory
  • An Australian partnership or sole trader
  • A foreign company licensed to trade in Australia
  • An owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark
  • An applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark
  • An association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory
  • An Australian commercial statutory body

Has anyone registered a .com.au in the UK while waiting to get over to Oz to start trading? If so, could you share some advice on how to go about it?

If you have a business registered in Australia its really not a big deal to register a .com.au domain. Without this though, it is difficult. Check your preferred domain is available, register the business and then purchase the domain. Maybe consider appointing an Australian accountant to register your business as a starting point? Feel free to PM me if you need assistance with .com.au domains as I'm an approved reseller.
