Default Advice on Reasonable flights to UK

Having just decided we would like a quick trip back to the Uk - kids are keen to see everyone - I was upset to see air asia no longer flying to the UK. Wondered if anybody had any ideas on good routes / carriers to get us back to the UK for a reasonable price? There are 5 of us so it can add up!

Thanks

Just paid 8.3k for 2 adults and 2 kids Brisbane to Glasgow with Emirates in 6 weeks time. Note it could have come in $800 cheaper but that meant the 02.50 flight from Brisbane to dubai plus 6hr stopovers in Dubai rather than 2.

Hint:I was being quoted several hundred dollars more when I wasn't logged in via my Skywards account.

try www.kayak.com and www.webjet.com.au for price comparisons

I'm looking at going back in April, best I can find at the moment is $1880 on Virgin.

'reasonable' 'flights' 'from Australia' words that just don't go together.

A few internet searches or a trip into flight centre should track down the best deals. I don't think there are any special tips to it. Unfortunately it is an expensive thing.

It was FlightCentre that secured our flights for us. Excellent service and the different options that were available were phenomenal.
Really really good service.

I wouldn't use either of those sites. Checking at www.expedia.com.au and directly with Emirates I got fares of $2180 return to Toronto from Perth in May. On Kayak the cheapest was $2750 with 3 stops and webjet $2390 with Etihad via Melbourne.

As others have said, a trip to a travel agent may be in order.

I normally do a search on www.bestflights.com.au print the prices out and head over to flight centre. last time I managed to get the Aeroflot price using BA service, the guy at flight centre didnt read the printout carefully enough

I have used kayak.com several times and have found it works well for getting good prices but that might only be when flying from North America. For arguments sake I did a search for a 2 week trip from Toronto-Sydney, departing anytime in May, and then reversed it so it was from Sydney-Toronto. The price lowest return price from Oz-Canada was $250 more than Canada-Oz. I then did a similar search from London-Sydney and Sydney-London and the difference was even greater when leaving from Oz. It makes no sense to me.
