Advice of QS Job Offer for Perth
Hi Folks,
Looking for some advice please.
I am a 35yr old QS and have received a job offer for Perth. I would probably be travelling over on my own. The employer would provide a 457 visa.
The offer is:-
company provided furnished apartment
company provided car
nett monthly salary of AUD 15,000 (i.e. takehome - employer would pay taxes / superannuation)
60 days leave a year
3 flights home a year (to UK)
Is that as good an offer as I think it is or am I missing something.
Thanks,
SimplySamuel

Hi simplysamuel and welcome to B.E.
It's my pleasant duty to welcome you to the forum and give you a point of contact should you need any help with the site in general. You can contact me here.
A list of all the moderators and helpers with their relevant countries including Australia can be found here.
Any problems, dont hesitate to PM me.
Your job offer looks pretty good to me. The only snag might be that the 457 visa doesn't neccesarily lead to permanent residence. (Not that you say you are looking for that).
I'm sure others will be along to comment.
Enjoy B.E.
Alistair.

Unfortunately with that kind of offer there is NO way you will be able to live in Perth,
Are you sure the job offer was for Perth Western Australia and not perth Afghanistan? I've heard security companies in certain war torn countries ARE offering those kind of conditions.... Better check it out before signing anything up front.
$15k net per month with all those extras would be about the going rate there.
Unless you are a second division professional footballer being offered a contract for the Glory?
In which case, dont bother... Its a lonely place to be

Re: Advice on QS Job Offer for Perth
Thank you Sherlock for the very welcoming message.
Seriously folks, I haven't made it up.
That's why I am on here asking. I personally thought it seemed to good to be true and I'm trying to figure out what the snag is. I keep thinking that there is something missing which I am not aware about and which is going to make it alot less attractive.
I had never considered Australia before as I had always thought it was too far away from home; however, having received this offer now, I think Australia will be more than perfect for me.
I have been trying to find out about Perth and I have reads lots of comments about how expensive it is; however, I think that sort of offer should more than suffice.
Let me just add that it is a specialist type construction role for which I have worked in before in the Middle East, so that should be taken into consideration when considering the offer.
Regards,
SimplySamuel

If the offer is genuine, go for it. Sounds like a no brainer mate

If you re-read my post you will see that I have experience in the Middle East. I admittedly do not know much about Australia; however, I do know that it's not in the Middle East, hence, I am on the Australian discussion forum requesting advice from people who do have experience of Australia.
If you need any advice on job offers in the Middle East, please do not hesitate to ask me. I would be more than happy to share my experience with you.

From my understanding, forums like these are here so that people like us can discuss issues and offer advice or assitance to each other and share our experiences / knowledge.
Although, from experience of other forums etc, I do get the impression some people just use these type of forums to make snide comments and remarks, as they seem to get a cheap kick out of it.

I commented that I do not know what is hard to understand and others have said it is a no brainer, if you command such a package you are obviously an intelligent person, surely you can work this out ... come on man.

Re: Advice on QS Job Offer for Perth
Out of all the replies I have received, you are the only negative one, so I can only assume the offer I have quoted is far in excess of the sort of package you might ever obtain, hence the large chip on small shoulder.
Have a good day sir.
Case closed.
