Advice please..
Hi all, im new to this site with loads of questions...
We are really thinking of moving to Australia its such a scary thought as I dont know anyone there & dont really know much at all.
My husband is a Panel Beater/Sprayer/fitter & im a Hairdresser.
Now I really wouldnt mind going for it and maybe it going wrong and having to come home again but I have a 13 & 11 year old son so dont want to mess with their lifes...
Im very worried about their education, my son will be doing his options this year, does he just continue in OZ or is it all different, also what if we return home in a couple of years, will his qualifications mean anything in the UK, is the education good in OZ..
My youngest has learning difficulties and currently receives 30 hours of support here in the UK, how does that work in OZ.
How do I pick what part to live in, how do I know we will get jobs, what if my sons never forgive me for this.
How do I now I could affored to live in OZ.
Could I get a sponsorship & what does this mean, what visa would I need.
Sorry but im very worried & really need as much information as possible.
Thankyou
Jo

It sounds like you are in the very early stages of considering a move to Australia and need to do some research on locations, jobs and lifestyle. I dont think you can answer a point like 'how do I know we will get jobs' you can't know until you do as much research as possible in to your employment area and find out if and where you might be in demand and if your area is in demand financially what quality of life will this offer.
Some great people ont his site who can provide great advice. But I would suggest that you take a good amount of time to read everything you can possibly read on living and working in Australia. Plenty of books out there with that title also.
Then when you are more clued up you can ask more specific questions.
Good luck.

As Dorothy says, look to see if you are eligible first of all (I did think that panel beaters were on the list, but hairdressers not)
Also, something worth considering at this stage. If you need to go for PR, it might take up to 2 years before you get here, then the kids are 15 & 13.

The other thing to consider is whether your son's disability will have an impact on your visa application. Full time support in Aus schools is rare and only for the really needy kids so if they see that and make a judgment they may say that he will be too costly for the tax payer.
Otherwise, totally different system, GCSEs are irrelevant and as long as a kid enrols in year 11 (at 16) and does yrs 11 and 12 they will get enough to go to uni or TAFE. Moving back to UK really has to be done before GCSEs begin otherwise you would be really behind the 8 ball.

Hi, thankyou all for replying..
From what I have researched Hairdressers & Panel Beaters are the trades that are needed & after contacting a few visa companies I have been told this is correct, I have been adviced to use my husband as the applicant as Panel Beaters are wanted more...
We have also been told that we may possibilt find a sponsor for this so we are looking into this more..
My youngest son has learning difficulties only therefore has not needed a special school as he can socialise ok,so here in the UK he stays in mainstream but needs help.. I need to find out more about this as its obviously very important...
Thankyou
Jo..

And sorry to say, but you are very unlikely to find the same level of help for your son's learning difficulty here that you get there. My autistic son gets 0 hours of help at his school. He's "too high functioning" for an aide according to anyone with decision making powers.
Do read the DIAC website I gave the link to earlier. There is a list of eligible occupations there which you need to fit into in order to even apply for the visa.

It may be possible to find an employer sponsor but it will be difficult. Australian employers are not clamouring to sponsor applicants from overseas.
I think you should really focus on this visa situation before worrying about anything else.
