Advice on Noosa ' Sunshine coast
Hi all
I hope to move to the Noosa/Sunshine coast area in mid 2010. I know it is a long way off but preparation is key. I come with my wife and 2 kids - F13, M8 in 2010. I am after some honest advice about schooling, accomodation & jobs etc - the usual!!
We currently live in Brunei and have not been in UK since '92, I do not miss Blighty and want a better life for my family - I believe Oz is the answer. I am in Noosa / Sunshine coast 22 Mar - 6 Apr 08 on an information gathering recce. My thoughts at the moment are to liquidate all my assets in the UK, buy my house in Oz outright (after an initial 6 -12 mth rental period) and buy into a small food related business (I am a trained chef with over 22yrs experience) and live happily ever after!! No doubt it will not be anywhere near that simple- but worth a try.
Would be very grateful of any comments and would love to meet up with anyone for a chat over a beer when we are over next month.
Many Thanks

Noosa is bloody beautiful. I'd love to live there, I'll probably retire there.
Not a lot by way of employment apart from hospitality, although you'll probably be alright if you are a chef.

If you have the funds, I would say have a look for land when you come on holiday, even if you dont end up moving here you'll still be able to sell it ok so it would be worthwhile locking in the prices now.
Theres a new development fairly central to Noosa worth checking although I think the lands coming in at $400k+ for just 700m2.
If you want acreage theres also land available in Doonan nearby at about $300k for 2 acres.
As for small food outlets, theres loads already and I know they are extremely competitive, even to the point of intimidating new people if they believe they are a threat to their custom, so it can be a stressfull way of making money although you should make a decent living from it here. I also think theres a certain snobbery about many of them, but maybe the quality is high enough to justify that. I don't know.
Good luck.
Cheers
